Virginia State Water Polo Championships Feb. 25th & 26th,
2012
Richmond Water Polo is
excited to be hosting the 2012 Virginia State Water Polo Championships to be
held at Nova of Virginia Aquatics February 25th and 26th
2012, and it is our hope that you will be able to participate. This
year’s tournament is likely to be larger than 2011. The following 9 teams have expressed serious interest:
William & Mary
JMU
Virginia Tech
UVA
VMI
Hampton Roads Water
Polo
Richmond Water Polo
Northern Virginia Water
Polo
Some of the final
details will depend on the total number of teams actually participating and
available pool time, but I have listed most of the pertinent information below:

3.
Format: Final determination once we have
confirmed the number of teams, but we are likely to play round robin within 2
qualifying groups, and then have the top two teams from each group play in the
championship round consisting of semi-finals and finals. Remaining teams
compete for 5th and 7th.
4.
Rules: We will follow CWPA rules except for those
governing ties and time outs.

Hotel Rooms: A block of rooms has been reserved at the Courtyard Richmond Northwest, located at 3950 Westerre

Friday, February 10, 2012, (the “Cut Off Date”) to make your room
reservations. Please identify yourself
as part of the Richmond Water Polo group staying at the Courtyard Richmond
Northwest, located at 3950 Westerre Parkway, Richmond, VA 23233-1303.
Room rate is $89 per night + taxes.
6.
Awards: As last year, we will recognize the
tournament champion as well as an all-tournament team.
7.
T-Shirts: We hope to again have t-shirts
available on site. We will send more info on t-shirts later.
8.
Team roster due February 1, 2012.
9.
Social event Saturday evening.
10.
Pool is all deep 25 yards by 20 meters.
There will be two warm-up lanes for swimming.
